2009 Co-Chairmen Margaret Ager and
Konnie Arnemann
July 18, 2009:
The multi-award winning quilter, Jean Lohmar,
will teach free motion quilting techniques using cheater panels. It is called “Christmas in July”
because it will feature Nancy Halvorsen's "Star ofWonder" quilt panels. The Star of Wonder panels will be
available for purchase at 20% off (thanks to Debi Henninger). The panels will be available at the
time of sign-up if you want to prewash it. If you do not want to prewash, they will be available at the
class. Jean will have thread packets available at class with various kinds of thread to quilt the "Star of
Wonder" panel. The cost is $12. If you do not like the "Star of Wonder" panel, there is a very nice
collection of cheater panels available in the local quilt shops right now. It doesn't have to be Christmas,
it can be anything you want. The supply list will list the types of thread that will be used on the Star
of Wonder panels to give you an idea if you use a different panel. This class will be held at PARC and we
will begin taking reservations for this class at the May 6 meeting.
August 15, 2009:
We will have a class taught by
award-winning Gems member
Carol Brooks. More
information will be available in the next newsletter and
reservations for Carol’s class will begin at the June 3 meeting.
These classes will be held at PARC from 9AM-4PM. Also
we are asking you to BYO lunch or plan on going out for lunch as well as BYO coffee, soda, or
water for yourself. This eliminates extra work for the workshop committee having to bring the supplies
needed for eating in with a pot-luck.
