Gems of the
Prairie workshops are usually held at PARC (Peoria Association for Retarded
Citizens), located at 1913 W. Townline Rd. (corner of Townline and
University).

The workshops are held on Saturday from 9:00 am. until 3:00 pm.
You should arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 to set up, so everyone can begin
at 9:00.
Bring the supplies listed on the workshop handout as well as general
sewing supplies, sewing machine in good working order. You may want to
bring a cushion for your chair and and a light for better visibility.
Sharing also extends to food. All workshop participants bring a
covered dish for the potluck lunch. Please label you dish, lid,
serving utensils ect. with your name ( masking tape works well).
Refrigeration is available, also microwaves and a few outlets for crock
pots. Drinks may be purchased from the vending machines at PARC or
you may bring your own. The workshop committee provides coffee and
table service.
Class fees are due when you sign up, and a supply list and cutting
directions are given at that time. Be sure to ask about our cancellation
and refund policy.

May 8th, "PUTTING ON THE BLING"
with Catherine Redford

Our guest speaker for the May meeting, Catherine Redford from
Naperville, IL., has agreed to teach a workshop of her embellishment
techniques, featuring yo-yo's, embroidery, and beaded edges. This
workshop is all hand work, no sewing machines required. Cost is $15. A
supply list will be available at our Workshop table at the April and May
meetings or can be emailed to you. Kudos & thanks to our program
chairs, Sue Wozniak & Amy Lister for organizing this bonus workshop for
our members.
May 17th, PAPER-PIECING with Vickie
Peterson -
9 am-4 pm, Lakeview Museum Conference

If you lack confidence or technique with paper piecing, this workshop is
for you. Vickie will be teaching a paper piecing sampler of 9 blocks
that make a very pretty wall hanging or table topper. (It would also be
a great little quilt for the Little Quilt Auction at our show!)
Cost is $15. There will be a $5.00 pattern fee in class. Supply list
available at April & May meetings.
