Featured
displays
Count
on viewing more than 500 quilts at the show. In addition to the
main display, you’ll see examples of the activities in which our
guild members participate. Quilts are made and generously
donated to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St.
Francis Hospital, the Peoria affiliate of St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital, and the Center for the Prevention of Abuse.
We’ll have many of these quilts on display. Many more quilts can
be viewed at the themed bed turning which will be presented
twice each day of the show. And don’t forget to visit our
Workshop display and see what our guild members and special
guest teachers have taught us through the year. For a look at
some of our past work in these areas, visit our home page and
click on the appropriate links.
Little
Quilts auctions
Throughout the year, guild members make what we call “little
quilts” for the quilt show silent and live auctions. These
little quilts can not be more than 28" on any side. Last year we
had more than 100 little quilts donated! Ten plus quilts will be
selected for the live auction, which takes place at 2:00 p.m. on
Saturday. A prominent community member (to be announced) will
emcee the event, and partial proceeds will go to St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital. You can participate in the silent
auction both days of the show. Just pick up your number and
rules at the booth near the entrance, and then go bid! Bids must
be in by 3:30 on Saturday and 2:30 on Sunday, so keep an eye on
the quilt you want so you don’t get outbid! Cash or checks will
be accepted.
Quilt
Appraisals
Alexandra (Sandy)
Schweitzer will once again be appraising quilts during both days
of the show. Sandy is an AQS certified Quilt Appraiser and
appraises antique (before 1900), vintage (1900-1970) and
contemporary quilts and textiles.
Schweitzer recommends
contacting your home owner’s insurance agent to find out if you
need an appraisal for your quilts and textiles. Without an
appraisal, if your textile is lost or damaged, your home owner’s
insurance will most often treat your quilt as a “blanket” with a
value of $50 to $100.
A fee of $40 is
charged per appraisal. The item MUST BE PHYSICALLY EXAMINED in
order to complete an appraisal which takes about a half hour.
Beginning August 7
you can make your appointment by contacting Niki Nuttall by
email at
nsnuttall@yahoo.com or snail mail at 628 N. 13th
Ave., Canton, IL 61520-2218. Please include your name and phone
number or email address, how many quilts you want appraised,
whether you prefer Saturday or Sunday, and if a morning or
afternoon appointment works better for you. She will contact you
with an available time. First come, first served.
Vendors
We will
have approximately 20 vendors. Their names will be posted as
they confirm their attendance at the show.
Raffle
quilt
A photo
of the raffle quilt will be posted as soon as it is finished.
Tickets are $1 each or five for $6 and can be purchased at the
show or from any guild member.
Food
Sandwiches, salads, and drinks will be available from our
caterer.
